Insta-worthy in an instant: Aukey 3-in-1 Phone Lens

Ever browse through Instagram and see those instant-photographers who boast that all the insanely stunning images on their feed have only been shot using their smartphone?

I’m not sure about you, but whenever I see that I’m both sceptical and envious. I mean how can they get such great landscape shots or macro images just using their standard iPhone? What are they doing that I’m not? Well, my latest purchase from HobbyKing may just be the answer to this. Last week, I purchased the Aukey 3-in-1 Wide Angle/Macro/Fisheye Phone Lens and Aukey Optic Pro Super Wide Angle 0.2X 238° Lens Set off HobbyKing. It has just arrived, and this article will tell you all you need to know about these brilliant accessories.

Unboxing

In the box for the 3-in-1 set, you can expect to find two lenses and two phone clips, a small instruction pamphlet and a cleaning cloth for the lens. Why only two lenses if it is a 3 lens kit, you ask? Well, Aukey cleverly attached the wide-angle lens to the macro, so you basically just twist it to separate the two. This makes it even more convenient to carry around. Similarly, the two clips are great if you want to use the different lenses on two devices at the same time. One of the things that surprised me the most when unboxing was that these lenses are actually made of high-quality aluminium alloy. For the price they are listed on the website (approximately between $15 - $23 USD), I was expecting to find cheaper quality materials because the price is so cheap. The aluminium makes them quite strong and is likely to make them durable over time. The soft rubber protection on the mounting clip is a great addition because it protects both your phone and your camera from any damage or scratches. Additionally, the lens has a multi-element optical glass lens which will assist in minimizing ghosting, reflections and lens flare. The plastic clip is easy to use and is versatile enough to be able to use on multiple devices. So far I have used this clip on a BlackBerry KeyOne, a Samsung Galaxy and iPhone - and all seems to be working well. I think it’s safe to assume that these lenses will work on most devices.

Image Quality

Once you’ve simply attached the lens onto the phone as depicted in the image on the side, you are ready to use it immediately. The best part is that you don’t need to connect it to an app or anything complicated to use it. You open up the camera on your device and use it just as you would have without the lens. Just as simple as that, you’ve enhanced your photographs to the next level to become seriously insta-worthy. Written by Rebecca
