The DH Beaver is without doubt one of the most widely know STOL "bush planes" and has become an aviation classic, good looking, powerful, tough and very capable, the Beaver was ideally suited to operating in the most hostile of conditions. As it could also be fitted with floats or ski's, the Beaver became a hugely popular workhorse with both Civilian and Military Operators, despite a slow start, the Beaver became a huge sales success and ranks as one of Canada's most succesful exports.

This H-King Beaver has a superb, high detail scale finish, the airframe is nicely constructed and the covering expertly applied. The model comes with lot's of vac formed parts and even cockpit seats, which combine with the realistic finish to give you a truly fantastic looking scale model that any pilot would be proud to own. With an 1800mm wingspan, the Beaver is a great size and has tons of presence both on the ground and in the air, it is also very practical and features a 2pc plug in wing and all four doors are hinged for easy access.

The Beaver of course was famous for it's superb STOL characteristics and the H-King Beaver does not disappoint, landings are a breeze courtesy of the large flaps which are operated by in internal linkage for a nice clean wing. This fantastic looking DH Beaver is such a pleasure to fly and is very practical, the perfect every day model for even the most demanding RC scale pilots!

It Took me sometimes to fly My DHC I was keeping her for display. I used a slight different config using a 4250 motor with 600kv and a 6S 5000mah and of course a 60 amp esc to give her a little more power. I wish I had flown this plane before. I recommend a master airscrew 3 blade 33x20 13x8 to do the job. I prefer a slow rate with 30 percent expo on elev rudder and ail. Excellent for first balsa trainer. If you balance the plane well she will glide to a perfect landing without power. Ah almost forgot. I added a little sound system to produce realism to the engine sound. I installed the speaker between the engine mount and the cockpit. I hope Hobby King continues to produce this kit as it is one of my favourites.

I customized this plane with a Saito 15cc twin engine for realistic look and sound.
Very good looking plane and easy to fly (land).
No missing parts in the box except the seats... 2 instead of 4 as, shown on photo's.
Over all I'm not disapointed.

well packaged and well built some small items missing, there is a problem with the imitation engine and undercarriage as whoever did the paint job they forgot to remove the protective cover that is on the blow moulding before they painted it and as soon as you touch it to do anything it comes off removing all the paint which makes a wast of them painting it to start with, the same covering is on the windows so remember to remove it before you try glueing them in as it does not mention it in the instructions and if you forget then the windows just drop out after just leaving the layer of glue behind.
at the moment I have not flown it but to get the CoG in the recommended place I had to put 2 3s 5000ma batteries into it also the motor looks a little to small but i will give it a try and then edit this review.
Regards Poppy Ann.

Hi,
I have received this plane last week. Beautifull bird with a great scale look!! Some difficulties during the building but nothing serious..Some missing parts too, or wrong parts :(.
I have put 4 turnigy 9018mg in the wings and 2 turnigy 4409 in the fuselage. servos in the wings seem very light, i'm a little afraid, 'll let you know after the maiden flight ;)
I intend to cut and beef up the firewall and to put an ASP .61 4 strokes for more realistic scale.

If someone have tips or pictures, dont' hesitate to share ;)

I received my just over a week. Apparently not missing any part, but the dummy engine arrived very damaged. I sent photos to HobbyKing to show the damage, but they have not given me any answers. Poor job of HobbyKing. I did not expect this from HobbyKing.

Just received mine and un-boxed it. Well packed and in perfect condition! Well done HK!
I am astonished at the overall quality of this model and do not think one could reasonably expect to purchase the materials for much less than the asking price of this ARF.

It has a fairly decent instruction manual with it too and the hardware provided looks solid and workmanlike. It appears it may take just a bit more than an afternoon to do it justice and there's a few things which require more than basic skills to get done.
I have a Turnigy 3548 1100 kVa to go in which should provide plenty of power when teamed up with a 12X8 EMP prop.
The interior is huge and it will make installing electronics and batteries easy for fairly big hands. Probably run a dual battery , in-parallel system with 4S 3000mAh . Also looking at pull-pull cable rigging for reliability and bumping up the wheels from 75mm to 100-110mm for the bushplane look.

No particular hurry to complete this and will update when it's maidened.

It's flown now, very pleased. Plenty of power from the 4250 motor using a master airscrew 13/8 and 4000 4s pack.8 min flights with about 30 to 40pcnt remaining at the end depending on how the model is flown and how windy the weather is. I think due to the large fuselage the model is affected by windy weather. Flaps are great really slow the model up on landing.
Only big change I made to the build was the ABS undercarriage fairings are poor so I've made then out of balsa and ply and covered then in silver solarfilm they look OK. The flap hinges looked a little flimsy so I've sleeved them with carbon rod, this has made them much more rigid.
Even with the large battery nose weight was needed to balance the model, not a vast amount but still enough to make the model slightly heavier than the target weight.
