The F-104 StarFighter earned many nicknames during it's career, from "the missile with a man in it" to the less complimentary "Widow-maker". There is no doubting that the tiny wing area made the F-104 tricky to fly, particularly when several NATO countries demanded more and more ordinance to be fitted and also drop tanks to extend range. The F-104 was primarily designed as an ultra fast interceptor, and this model shares some similar characteristics with the full size aircraft!

Yes, it is fast, yes, it has a fast climb rate, and yes, it can be tricky if you don't pay attention, especially in terms of roll rate, take it from us, we know! Our advise is to set aileron movements to minimal and add a decent amount of Expo.

A fast model and a fast build, all servo's are pre-installed and you have the choice of using the supplied fixed landing gear or hand-launching, which is surprisingly easy thanks to the F-104's combination of light-weight and high thrust from the pre-installed 70mm EDF unit. The Lipoly tray is easy access and a prefect size for the required 2200mAh 4s Lipoly (not included) feel like living in the danger zone without spending too many Bucks? This StarFighter might just be for you!

My only flight ended to the same result shown in the video.
Il was out of control after the first turn.
It crashed and I only took back the electronical components to my home.
No risk, no fun !

had an eye on one of these for a while, seemed good for a laugh at $64. Got the blue one , went toghether with no real issues. Watch the nose cone , its a bit flimsy.

Took my control movements from the discussion forum and added lots of expo for good measure. Only had a couple of flights so far. First flight had elevator and aileron quite out of trim so was a bit hairy for a minute. Hand lauched with immediate fast left roll, this was corrected by which time it was nearly inverted , I recovered just in time to bounce off the grass and get airbourne. Once trimmed out it was okay. Second launch when trimmed was less eventfull . Both landings we brought in with some power still on.

all in all good value for money , looks great in the sky!! Not for faint hearted!! But very flyable though.

When I got this plane I said the same thing as when I saw the real thing: no way it could fly with those tiny little wings. As it turns out it is one of the nicest flying foam EDF's I have. It is reasonably fast but not brutal it climbs in about 1/3 throttle and hand launches easily since it is so light. The power for climbs is way beyond what it needs although loops are clumsy and hit or miss. Flying by at full throttle low on the deck it looks totally cool. One thing though the T tail was warped near the fuse on one side giving this plane a hilarious rocking side to side characteristic. It does not seem to affect the flight characteristics otherwise and it brings a lot of smiles and not just from laughing! at the field.

Unless you are a baseball pitcher in major league, forgot about hand-launching this plane. With two tiny 7'' wings this plane is almost a rocket. They don't called the real one "widow maker" for nothing. If you don't use the landing gear on paving then you have to built yourself a catapult as I did. Beside this, this plane is really fun to fly.

This is a fun plane. Absolutely not for beginners! Build quality is nice. Fan in mine is a bit unbalanced. Good top end speed. If you are going to hand launch, you'd better have some head wind. Stall speed is not low! Pretty much have to land at at least 1/3 throttle. Once it's going, it is fairly stable but it doesn't like much wind. I would recommend setting the aileron throws to minimum because this thing loves to roll. Not a very scale appearance but if you can work with foam, you can make it look better. Those ridiculous tip tanks were the first to go on mine. All in all, good value for the money.

My father bought me this Kit of the starfighter. I of course got the god awful red version with the cat sticker on the side. I peeled the sticker off which removed some paint, but I plan on doing a paint job on it. The kit comes complete with everything you need. The points that i do not favour are as follows, The elevator servo protrudes from the left side of the vertical stabilzer. This would be nicer if it was flush. The ducting join on the left side was not glued properly and needs attention. The canopy has overspray and the plastic parts that protect the underside are warped slightly. Lucky I have experience with building models.. I look forward to flying it..

I ordered this plane the day they came out because of the awesome Starfighters scheme. It showed up today, but its in a hideous red scheme with a godawful cartoon cat on the side. No kidding. A cartoon cat.

Only after I ordered the plane did HK put up the tiny *color may differ notice. Trying to get a refund/exchange now, but I don't think I'll waste the shipping to send it back.

I cant say how this thing flies but its a really amazing airplane in real life. Crazy fast. I had the chance to get to meet the Starfighter group and hang out for a day in the hanger. The blue paint job that you seen on this model is painted to match that of the planes owned by the Starfighter Group who flies these old planes at shows. It really is a big engine with a couple fins on it.

I have done a lot of flying with this Starfighter and it is impressive. It is easy to hand launch and has no bad handling characteristics.Make sure the controls are set carefully as an out of trim model is tricky to control on the first flight straight after launch! Flying around is easy enough as are landings provided some speed is maintained to touchdown.I would say do not bother with the fixed undercarriage and also fix the rudder in place.A great model and no need to be afraid of it!
