The Grumman F-14 Tomcat is proven as one of the more elegant designs of the latter Cold War years with smooth contours and a highly identifiable profile from any angle. The F-14 is a 2-seat, twin-engine fighter with twin tails and variable-geometry wings which were designed incorporating the experience of air combat against MIG fighters during the Vietnam war.

This F-14 twin EDF has a super scale appearance and added details with scale pilot and auxiliary drop tanks which take this R/C jet model to the next level.  It is powered by a pair of 50mm ducted fans with a pair of extremely powerful brushless out-runner motors to propel the plane at a blistering speed.

The sweep wing mechanism of this F-14 is extremely reliable, easy to maintain and it can be controlled by a switch or slider on your transmitter.  Once you are high up in the air and would like to get your adrenaline running, sweep the wings back enter combat mode right away! The wing panels are dual ball bearing supported for precision sweep, and speaking of precision, the full flying stabilizers feature pivot balls on the control horns. The model has fixed landing gear for ROG takeoffs, though can be removed and hand launched easily due to molded hand grips on the underside.

This model is made from EPO foam which is incredibly strong and durable. If you have a less than perfect landing or even a crash, with some minor repair and you can have it back into the air in no time.

Received mine in great condition within a couple days of my order. Probably one of the fastest shipments I have received. Great detail all around and very easy to assemble with minimal time. The supplied AB glue worked surprisingly well for the tail. Got to finally fly it today and it flies really well with the recommended 3s 2000mah battery though only getting around 3min which isn't enough time considering how great this bird looks in the air. Wings sweep back with out incident and with out seeming to change CG though it does tend to rock a little left to right with the wings swept. I have my wing sweep set to 3 second travel which seems to work well though I'm thinking of trying out 5 seconds. I was able to take off from a grass field at a park though just barely. Highly recommend either a hard runway or hand launch. Landings are a breeze as it glides down perfectly with no power with the wings fully out almost like a trainer. Did have one the fans come loose on me trying to take off on my 5th flight. No damage just need to reattach and should be back in business for flying next week. Even though I did have the incident with the fan I'm still giving 5 stars all around as its a great plane especially if you are a big fan of the f-14.

This is easily one of my favorite planes after a couple of minor/moderate mods. First of all as it comes the power is adequate and it will fly but it takes almost full throttle all of the time to stay in the air. I changed out the ESC's to a pair of 40 amp ESC's so I could use 4S batteries and that made it a pleasure to fly. I also changed out the swing wing servo because so many have had it fail. I used a digital 19g metal gear servo. I also cut the section between battery compartment and the electronics compartment so I could move battery tray back to make room for bigger batteries and better cooling. It can now hold a 25C-4S-2700 lipo easily and I'm getting about 3:45 per flight. With wings extended, it flies like a trainer but loops and rolls great. It literally floats on landing and you have to allow plenty of room for it to glide. With wings folded looke out, it turns very wide and loses a bit of altitude in the turns so have plenty of altitude when you start your turns. I don't use taileron setup, just normal controls for elevators, ailerons, rudder and it flies great. I will probably get another one just to make sure I can always be able to fly this great jet.

I am really happy with this plane. I bought it during the last sale even though the reviews at the time were bad. Just figured the lowered price made it worth the risk. Glad I bought it! Detail is great, easy build. I am only leaving 4 instead of 5 stars as it seems I have a bad servo for one of the elevons. This is easily fixed with one of my spare 9g servos. Have not yet flown, but agree with the other user that stated longer push rods for the swing wing mechanics would be a good idea so you can get full range swing.

Plane shipped promptly with just nose squished a little. The assembly was quick. Test flight showed the neutral for elevator need some uptrim, but flight was pretty straightforward, with both 3s 2200mah and 3s 3200mah. Just added retract and will see how she handles the extra weight.

Great looking plane but came with plenty of problems.

# 1 The battery hatch was to small for the recommended battery. HAD TO CUT OPEN.

# 2 The push rods for opening the main wings were the wrong size. HAD TO REPLACE THEM.

# 3 The Reverser Servo Signal cable did not work. HAD TO CUT OPEN THE UNDERCARRIAGE AND REPLACE IT.

And I have not even had her in the Air yet I just hope she will fly.

Got this plane during the last sale, and I'm glad I did. I don't think you'll find a better swingwing F-14 for this price point. The plane has plenty of detail, and overall looks good. I am bench testing with the suggested 2200 3s, and it feels plenty powerful. Only real mods I had to do was to have the battery and reciever boxes. Also buy a longer servo arm for the swing servo if you want full out wings. I used the longer throws to make 3 positions for the wings. Looks great now wings all out. Overall a great plane. Tom

Well, I received this model a few weeks back from the AUS warehouse and it arrived in one piece with no damage, thankfully! Wow, on first looks, I was really impressed with the build quality and detail of this model. The only issue I had during the build was a stripped elevator servo which I had to replace. The only other problem noticed was that the sweep-wing control wires are too short, therefore the wings do not open/close fully and will also have to be replaced. I was concerned about under-power from the discussions but in flight, found the standard Turnigy nano-tech 2200mah 25-50C was ample and it flies very scale. This battery just fits, so if you wish to go bigger you will have to do some cutting out and this is possible. This model does not come with pilots and so I had to order a couple and I also added a full navigation light kit and orange LED afterburners that really look great, especially when adding more throttle power! Overall, a really impressive model that performs well and looks very scale in flight. Just a hint, be careful when sweeping back the wings in flight as you lose about of your Aileron ability so you will need to set your settings higher to accommodate for this. Thanks HK for bringing back an oldie but a goodie!!

mmmmm, although I love the f-14 tomcat I cannot give it a high rating. This stock version just lacks enough power to do a f-14 justice. It will fly on stock power, but just barely. I own 5 of these are frames. 1 is totally stock, I fly it on mild wind conditions. The others are modded. I used extreme rc 55mm edf gws fans on one frame which make it balistic, and also expensive. The best way to go is just to take all the stock electronics out and make it a pusher. It will blow you away on 3s power with a 2700kv ntm and a 6x4 apc speed prop ans A 40AMP ESC. Just check rc groups for this bird, loads of info on my birds! HK should offer this as a frame only version.

The plane looks great but once it arrived there was damage to the drop tanks and minor to the body. I also discovered later that the servo signal reverser is faulty as well. and have to replace that before I try and fly...

Too under powered to take off form even a well mown grass runway. Wallows around like a pregnant hippo when hand launched. Needs more power Scotty!! Why does Hobby king consistency sell plains that are hopelessly underpowered.
