Description

The engineers at Turnigy have come up with another winner, the Turnigy Evolution. Designed with the FPV Drone flier squarely in mind, the Evolution features a striking new look and is amazingly compact. Its small size makes it very backpack friendly and the neat cover for the front of the controller keeps the face and gimbals safe during transportation.

The Evolution uses the solid and reliable 8 channel 2.4GHz Automatic Frequency Hopping Digital System (AFHDS 2A) spread spectrum technology, making it compatible with the iA6, iA6B, iA6C, i10 & i10B range of receivers. The system is supplied with the Turnigy TGY-iA6C Receiver for SBUS/IBUS and CPPM/PWM support. Twin omnidirectional high gain antennas are built into the outer case to provide an even more secure radio link and to protect them from damage.

The ergonomically designed case makes for easy use of all controls. The switches and pots are all positioned for comfort and the adjustable length sticks can be tailored to your own requirements. Speaking of sticks, the high quality, ball bearing gimbals are clear and have color changing, programmable LEDs that can change color with the use of the sticks. There is a pop-up potentiometer that could be used for camera gimbal control. Two 3-position switches on the back can easily be set-up to change the flight modes. A large monochrome backlit LCD Touch screen makes it easy to program and change the settings in both daylight and night-time. Five model memories  make it easy when swapping from one model to next by simply selecting the appropriate model memory (assuming that you've bound the next receiver to the particular model memory first!)

Each transmitter and receiver has its own unique ID to prevent other RC systems from accidentally connecting to or interfering with the Evolution.
Each transmitter hops between 16 channels in order to reduce interference from other transmitters. There is even a mini USB port for easy charging via a power bank (power pack) or phone charger / USB charger / PC. This can also be used for updates (via PC) or to use the Evolution transmitter as a controller for your favorite RC simulator programs.

The Evolution comes in either Mode 1 and Mode 2 and is available in black or white for each mode.

I don't know about longevity or range yet but if you like ps/Xbox controlers this feels great

Impressive thing... Really. After my Taranis Plus this thing is like an upgrade from some old brick.
For racing you no need too long distance, lots of switches (only 3 needed) and other. Just high resolution sticks and perfect fit in your hands!

But be careful- Turnigy Evolution is not for pinchers(but it could be...I tried)

Coming from a newbie pilot, first impression of the Turnigy Evolution is pretty good. Build quality is great, good materials used, sides have enough rubbery grip and a good feel to it. Shape of the controller is very comfortable, as a gamer and I use PS4 controllers, I like the feel these a lot. Now I can only compare this to my FS-i6, your stander square controller, the Turnigy Evolutions gimbals out of the box feels more precise and smoother, not too light, just enough feed back. Enough features for quadcopters and the touch screen is great. I wish that Turnigy made different kinds of sticks specially for this. All and all, great product. Based on latest firmware. I would like to know how to use flight modes.

First of all I have to say it is a really nice and solid transmitter. Sticks feels great and leds are awesome!

But there a lot of functions missing which the the i6s for example already has:
- Add support for Expo
- Make it possible to show quad voltage on default screen
- Make it possible to show RSSI on default screen
- Add stick calibrate to normal menu
- Make it possible to control the led color with a selectable channel (for example the dial knop)

For anyone who has problems with stick calibration, there is a hidden menu where you have additional options like calibrating the sticks and the internal voltage modul. To access it just hold the sticks down and left on powerup!

Looking forward to an update adding the additional usefull features!

My transmitter turned up with the screen hanging off, no signs of the box being damaged. Popped the screen back in place then discovered fault with left gimbal, it had a mind of its own. Terrible customer service and returns process with Hobbyking. Its been over 2 weeks and no communication from them apart from an email saying RMA is closed... no instructions on if i need to return or they are collecting or sending a replacement. VERY POOR SERVICE for what was a DOA item.

i love this radio! sure its not a taranis or 9xr pro,but with all it CAN do ,it is definitely money well spent guys!!! just for the fact that it works on the pc with fpv free-rider sim. no problem ,alone scored very high in my charts! not only can you practice your skills at acro, but afterwards you can take the very same control outside and fly around your mini racer too! the rx is sbus ready ,so easy set up with digital speed.easy interface and touchscreen ,also 3 pos. switches for all your modes ,plus a 2 pos. i use as arm and timer both! guys this thing freakin rocks !!!! plus it has a pop up n down potentiometer for idk a gimbal? no matter, you can configure this radio however you want...the battery detection is a very nice touch too....only cons i have, there is no trims outside for quick on the fly trimming, but it does have a sub trim menu though...i really wish it could be a bit louder or vibrate at low battery,b/c nobody fpv will be looking for leds to flash to tell if battery is low...and a lanyard adapter of some sort would be nice...there is no place to hook one,but this radio is light enough and compact ,so no huge deal, best way i can describe flying w this is....imagine flying fpv outdoors w a nice form fitting remote control like a playstation remote...now imagine you can set it up however you want to.....its like that ;-) over all i give it an 8 1/2 b/c the price point is more than fair for all the features you get.....a flight simulator alone for practice is worth buying this combo ...look how much real flight sells for! ...this is a no brainer!
