Finally, a 550 class helicopter kit that won't break the bank! Modeled on the famous and proven T-Rex 550, the HK550TT will push your 3D skills to their limits.

This 550 size helicopter offers an excellent power-to-weight ratio that makes for stellar 3D performance. It utilizes the same power system as a 600/.50 size electric heli, but is lighter and spinning smaller blades, thus offering much higher performance and efficiency. Also featuring a torque-tube driven tail, this machine is capable of handling whatever hardcore aerobatics you choose to throw at it!

With its black anodized CNC alloy head & tail unit and beautifully finished carbon fiber frame, the HK550TT is as nice to look at as it is to fly. This kit has just about all the alloy upgrade parts you could want already installed such as battery mount plate, tail servo mount, tail pushrod guides, anti-rotation bracket base and main bearing blocks. There are very few plastic parts anywhere on this heli!

The HK550TT uses high quality tail bearings and tight tolerances to ensure no slop in the tail assembly and locked-in tail performance for the most extreme of 3D flying.

This heli comes 90% pre-assembled so you can be in the air in no time. Just complete the final assembly,  add your favorite main blades, install your own electronics and your ready to fly!

Spent some time building this... there are some parts for me which are essential to swap out, but this will vary. Check everything on your build! I definitely needed to change the rotor head, which was machined offset. this lead to some pretty bad vibrations on spool up. Few more bits swapped too, but this is still well under the price of Align's ONLY 550. YEP100a on the ESC, 20A separate BEC, RotorStar 550MGs, Turnigy 1256TG on the tail (check for those expecting 3D - might be a bit slow)
Overall - Happy customer, even with the replaced bits.

Kit is as usual GARTT product good enough for the money, have to do some mods and buy some Align parts and it flies well... I have modded it also to DFC with GARTT DFC headset and it is even better now.

I bought this heli 4 month ago, I've been working a lot on it and I finally succeeded to make it fly well last week.
Some technical problems from the factory make it dangerous :
- bearings are generally mounted without spacers and the play is obtained by the following solution : thread lock glue screws not thightened. So the spinning is done between the internal ring of the bearing and the screw and not necessarily by the bearing itself. Not clean.
- washout control arm : plastic arm is bent by the screw because of a bad design. MUST be replaced by the HM6092 set for safe use.
- tail rotor blades holders : the thrust bearing has two plates of identical diameter. The external one should be smaller to allow rotation but it is not. So the spinning is obtained at the factory by tightening not the screw again. It moves smooth when the motor is stopped and becomes locked as soon as the motor runs. I solved this with removing 0.1 mm on the diameter of the external plate of the bearing (lathe bench carbide tool).
- tail rotor blades : bad design, they become locked in the wind as soon as they rotate and the force necessary to change the pitch is huge. I replaced them by the RH55035-01 that work very well. Generally speaking, you can test the behavior of the tail pitch control while running with no main rotor head by moving the rod by hand. The heli must be fixed firmly on a bench.

Good quality on the heli. Alot better than others make it sound. New models have frame support in front of servos. Only issue is the tail servo bracket isnt reinforced well. I have one a HK450 break. Recommend replacing that piece with an Align or better.

I received my HK550TT 2 weeks ago. I have built the helicopter and I have to admit there have been quality issues, first problem some of the tapped holes were not completed fortunately I have the small tapping tools and was able to rectify easily. The main gear ran very badly out of true due to the one way bearing housing being a very loose fit I the main gear. Had to change the main gear with an Align 600 main gear. When I took my first flight the heli settled into a steady hover however the tail had a very bad wag that could not be rectified by altering the gyro gain. The main shaft is 9.75 mm it should be 9.98 mm this causes bad vibration also the front bearing groove in the front boom support is oval 18mm x 19mm instead of 18x18 allowing the front shaft gear to slop sideways in flight causing vibration an tail wag not happy this is a poor effort at producing an otherwise first class helicopter.

Overall It took me 5 evenings to assemble the kit. Overall quality, once you've addressed all the problems, is OK.
Carbon frame, screws, bearings and machined parts all seem quite Nice , although cnc parts do have light burrs.

Parts that need attention from the manufacturer:

Front TT gear housing: slop in the bearing seat. I solved the problem (a BIG one in my opinion!) by adding 3M acrylic tape in between front bearing and Boom/TTgear housing halves). Also, the boom/gear housing is made out of to soft plastic, to my liking, why not add glass fiber in the material?
Main rotor shaft bend: bought align spare
Main gear is unround: bought align spare
Main frame to flexible at roll servo mount position and mid frame position. Reason: there is no connection in between the two frame parts here, but mounting holes are present: added 2 align metal bushes.
Carbon gyro/receiver mount has some play within mainframe: use some rubber to eliminate play. I did mount the gyro directly to the gear case and the receiver to the main frame.
Tail gyro mount bends (a little) under load: I will observe this for now.
Feathering shaft and tail rotor hub are glued tight: use a hot key to loosen up the glue, unmount, clean, grease up all bearings (and remove small metal shavings), assemble with blue loctite again.
Landing gear somewhat soft, but flyable.

To me all above mentioned problems are managabl

This helicopter is not up to my expectations. I encounter a lot of problems. More I check each parts, more I'm disapointed. The tail HAVE slope, and I have to change the pich slider. Bearings are poor quality and there is a little slope everywere there is a bearing. The main shaft is poorly machined and It's a grindy feeling when I move up and down the swashplate. For $150 more, I should buy a T-rex kit because I'll probably buy for that much of upgrades.
