The Trendy is a 2250mm wingspan light air V-tail thermal soarer, ideal for a lazy day spent chasing thermals.... She's a brilliant floater!

She is a lightweight, high-efficiency model capable of making the most of the smallest wafts of lift. The Trendy is an ideal entry level model for competition F5J due to her slippery design and high performance. The fuselage is in two sections, the front section is constructed from epoxy-glass and the tail boom is real carbon fibre; ensuring both rigidity and lightness, whilst the three piece wing and tail are built from balsa and hardwood to be as light as possible. She looks spectacular covered in transparent Oracover - which allows you to see the nice quality of the wings construction. She looks fantastic in the air, the transparent red and blue are very visible at altitude.

The Trendy is a 'full house' soarer with Ailerons on the outboard wing panels, a one piece flap on the centre wing panel and elevator/rudder on the V-tail. Utilising a computer radio system capable of mixing, Crow braking and full span camber adjustment become available to the pilot and these functions will make the most of this sweet model.

Power system considerations should sway toward lightweight 26-28mm Outrunners in the region of 200-300w, allowing for vertical climbs - yet not adding 'dead weight' to the airframe. It is possible for this model to weigh around 800g flight ready- Very light for a 2.25m model!

Avoid this one like the plague. It's basically unbuild-able, have a look on rc groups, no-one there was able to complete the plane.
After giving up on this I bought the Deamon-2000 which I highly recommend.

I am generally a little disappointed with this model.

It has the potential to be really good, but lacks through a few design flaws.

1. Flap is hinged the wrong way.
2. Film covering is of poor quality - I am considering a complete re-cover!!
3. Hinges are not so great - caused by the film separating from the airframe.
4. access to install motor and battery is rubbish! this makes it really hard to install anything usefull.
5. finding a motor, spinner and prop that will fit are challenging - but possible!
6. control surfaces on my model are slightly thicker than the trailing edge. really needs sanding down to get a decent airflow.

What a general dissapointment. The potential to be good - but let down by poor quality control.

The quality of this model is not great, the general finish is not as good as one has come to expect from HK. Every panel has scrape marks and dents in the balsa under the covering and the covering is indented and loose in some areas. The model was packed very well and the damage did not occur in transit.

Neither of the three recommended motors will fit in this aircraft unless the wires are routed outside the fuselage. As there is no motor cooling provided for I have built a long air scoop on the top of the fuselage and run the wires past the motor in that. This should not have been necessary and it has weakened an already thin structure.

The two tail surfaces are badly designed. The location of the control horns means that they are prevented from moving in one direction by the fin. Part of each fin has to be removed. They also have to be installed so that the hinge line is quite a way behind the rear end of the fin support, meaning that the front of the fin support sticks way out forward and has to be removed.

No spinner was provided even though the product description says that one is.

The front part of the fuselage (the GRP part) is not finished well, especially the nose.

The flap hits the top of the fuselage before it can go down enough for proper crow and has to be cut to fit.

The recommended battery won't fit into the fuselage.

All control surfaces are prevented f

HK have many good models in their inventory, but this is not one of them.

The fuz is too small in diameter to fit a 28mm outrunner without running the cables outside the fuz.
The wings and tail came pre covered with the control surfaces attached with the covering. The covering was too tight and prevented sufficient control surface movement in both the up and down directions.
I have fitted CA hinges to get sufficient movement but found the covering
very badly glued to the balsa of the wings, tail and control surfaces. It peeled off in large pieces and the model will have to be recovered.
There were no instructions, In frustration I threw the glider into the rubbish bin.
