Turnigy SK3 Motors are the next leap forward in motor quality and design. We instructed the engineers to source the best quality magnets, bearings and materials available to them and develop a motor that would not only rival but surpasses the quality of many leading motor manufacturers on the market today.

The result is an efficient, high caliber motor using quality double shielded bearings, sintered Neodymium magnets and a string wound stator ensuring an accurate and consistent winding each and every time. The Turnigy SK3 motors are suited to modelers who are seeking a quality brushless motor without compromise.

Buy recommendation

May 03, 2021

Very happy with the performance and the price is good too!
For long flight times with low load I use 12x8, for efficient load 13x8, for medium to heavy loads 14x8 and 14x10, for maximum load in continuous operation with good cooling I use 15x10 without any problems. 16x8, on the other hand, is not suitable as the motor can then overheat.

Prop adaptor poor quality

Mar 17, 2021

The motor operates as it should. However the alloy prop adaptor is badly designed. It is small diameter alloy with a hollow shaft. It’s only a matter of time before it snaps. In true HobbyKing style, parts are not available and the “notify me” request sits in limbo today. Without the prop adaptor, the motor is useless.

Smooth running motor - eventually

Jan 25, 2021

This motor was bought to power a 4m scale glider in FES mode. To accommodate a collet drive for a folding prop, the shaft had to be reversed - a collar is provide with the motor to enable this to take place. To remove the shaft the set screws have to be remove and the circlip, at the back of the motor removed ( the circlip is not needed again but the brass washer needs to be retained).
The set screws are glued in and are impossible to loosen with an Allen key. The trick is to apply a few seconds of heat, from a pin-point blowtorch flame to the setscrews (one at a time), protecting the motor with a thick, wet cloth. The screws then easily release and the shaft can be removed and reversed in the normal way.
The motor is now installed in the model, with a Plush 60 ESC, 6S lipo and a 14x7 Cam carbon folding prop. Current draw is about 35 amps giving 700+ watts - well within the motor's spec.
