turnigy servoless retract units

May 10, 2021

Unit failed after about 15 cycles before test flying model. Oleos are good but electronic drive shaft and trunion failed. Units not rugged enough for 60-120 size models.

Hallo
Klappt wunderbar.

These retracts are just about perfect the only complaint is I wanted slightly larger wheels so had to have a longer axle I solved that with a stainless 4mm bolt works very well

Sorry to have to say this, as I'm normally a supporter of Hobby King products, but one of these legs just gave up the ghost half way down, without any warning - they hadn't even taken to the air and were being cycled just for set up purposes - no sign or smell of burning when I stripped them down - I suppose I was lucky, as had this happened whilst flying the model would no doubt have suffered serious damage.
My main gripe was that I'd bought these retracts when I started the build two years ago and they were out of warranty (ok, by a year) by the time I finished when they actually failed - no joy at all from HK - even though the unit had only had around a dozen cycles from new.
I think the best course of action and I know it's a pain, but it is to continually cycle them just as soon as you receive them.
Regards Colin (aka 'arry auster)

The durability of the retracts is very bad, after a few landings with a plane
with a weight about 2Kg the bearing from the leg is allready very bad.
i dont know a solution yet for the problem.

I ordered these retracts for my Seagull AT6 Texan 120 and they fit perfectly. However, upon testing they made a lot of noise trying to cycle and never locked up or down. After about 1 min. they quit working at all. After removing the units I noticed on of the motors was a bit loose in it's mount.
Unfortunately, I can't recommend these.

I experienced failure before flying the model I installed them in. I had already shortened the struts to fit. I'm probably not getting a refund. Yes, these are too good to be true, avoid purchasing these.

I now have about a dozen landings on these now. they are becomeing sloppy at the pivot pin. the brass pin is wearing in the side frame. I really like them other wise and will try to correct this with a bushing or bearing but this will require some work.
