Good LiPo alternative for 1/10 (or bigger) RC Cars

Mar 29, 2023

Been using since Jan 2021, bought as an alternative to a 2s LiPo and an upgrade from a 7 cell NimH, that is considered safer than a LiPo, an important consideration with a young child.
Just fits his Maverick Strada (fitting longer battery/body posts) and my Rustler 4x4, being careful not to pinch the cables.
Changing the supplied connecters to match the ESC is a challenge due to the thickness of the main power cables, simpler to use an adapter, which we've 'permanently' taped in placed to each battery with electrical tape.
(Would like to see a 3s version in a hardcase and one sized and shaped to match 7.2v NimH racing packs for use in classic Tamiya models)
Overall very pleased.

A real alternative to LiPo - Suitable for Summit 1/8 and Rustler VXL

Nov 02, 2021

I use the LiFePo as a LiPo alternative for the Summit 1/8 and Rustler VXL. The 3S version fits into the respective battery slots without any problems. I haven't had any problems so far, not even bloating.
Ich nutze die LiFePo als LiPo alternative für den Summit 1/8 und Rustler VXL . Die 3S Version passt ohne Probleme in die jeweiligen Akkuschächte. Probleme hatte ich bisher noch keine, auch kein Blähen.

Love these safer batteries!

Sep 25, 2021

Bought these because I got sick of LiPo’s. I use these in my Traxxas E-Revo Mamba Monster 2200kv setup. I put 2 of them in parallel if I want durability, and put them in series if I want speeeeeeed.
LiFePo’s last longer (degrade a lot less).
LiFePo’s can be charged much safer (not as sensitive to overcharging).
LiFePo’s don’t really care if you leave them at 100% for a month.
They deliver the same punch as LiPo’s (axle breaking on my e-revo without punch control).
Two downsides,
1st downside: 13% lower voltage = 13% less top speed. 6S LiFePo is like 5S LiPo top speed.
2nd downside: lower energy density so larger volume / weight compared to LiPo.
I don’t care about top speed above 50-60kph though, and I do love that I can leave these batteries fully charged for a month without problems.
And also, after a year of degradation, this LiFePo will have more capacity than a 5000mAh LiPo with a year of degradation.
Buy buy buy!
Definitely recommend a switch to LiFePo4.
Be sure to set your cut-off correctly (2.5v per S) and/or use buzzers (2.7v per S).
Charge (and balance) to 3.60v.
Store at 3.20v.
Still vulnerable to deep discharge, don’t store below 3.0v or drain below 2.5v.

Great

Mar 02, 2021

Love the quality and feel so far, and they seem very true to their mah. I’m actually using them as 6s in a car, feels no lack of power from lipo.
The batteries are more resilient and you can indeed discharge them lower than Lipo.
BUT I do NOT recommend you over discharge pass %0 like any battery you can damage the cell. Love the performance so far
