Mad mad bird

Feb 20, 2018

Flies amazingly slowly.
2212 1000kv motor in mine with 8x6 prop gives plenty of power.
Lots of fun for very little outlay!!
I put 50% rudder coupling to ailerons on mine as I found it a bit slow on aileron response, much better now!!
Get one!! Just for stooging around at low level they are excellent.

A gas!

Feb 10, 2018

We have a half dozen “chickens” flying in our club, put them all up for a “flock flyin”. Great fun. I have two, put wheels on one so I can do rog, touch-and-goes and spin donuts on the runway. Nothing like it.

This plane is easy to build and easy to fly. I'm using a Blue Wonder in 1500 kv,,HXM2730-1500, 10 amp esc, 8x4 prop, and a 1100, 3s nanotech batt. I put extenders on the elevon servos as more aileron travel is needed to get a good roll rate. It takes a licking and keeps on ticking due to the EPP construction.

I was amazed at how well this odd-looking Bird flew. It's fast or slow, whatever you want. I'm not a great flyer, but even I was able to keep the Mad Bird airborne. The elevon setup is really all you need to fly well. It has a huge rudder, but I never even used the rudder to fly with all kinds of loops and rolls. The EPP foam is thick, tough and well cut. Even after a few rough landings it looks new. The color is not especially bright, so I wouldn't recommend flying in low-light situations. I'm using a 2212-1400kv motor, 30 amp ESC, 7x6 APC slow-fly prop and 1100mah 3s battery. It's a good, unique fun flyer.

Kit is very minimal but everything you require to build except glue.I used the UHU poly glue all round and it was very easy to assemble.Use the information for the power plant and it flew straight out of the "box",great fun to fly and very stable in slow flight.almost down to walking pace no problem. This bird is noy mad it is absolutely brill.

This kit is OK. but ht ecarbon reinforcing rod broke twice when I applied hot glue to the joint where it passes through the side wall of the fuselage. Obviously the heat softenes the carbon strip and it hen fold under the tension. I had to cut the strips to 4 equal lengths and glue them in place instead.
