Looking for a scale BF-109? This isn't it! This BF-109 is built for high speed fun and features a nicely finished, tough composite fuselage and a foam filled/balsa sheeted wing that would look more at home on a pylon racer more than a scale warbird!

The 109 Racer is 4 channel control and there isn't the slightest hope of fitting retracts unless you are prepared to do some extensive modding, fixed gear is included or basically....it's a good old throw! To get the best from the 109 Racer, you will want a high power 4s power train and plenty of sky to haul itself around! You will also need some 9g~12g servo's for the elevator/rudder and a Park servo for the ailerons. This is not one for inexperienced pilots and some good old fashioned basic building skills wouldn't go amiss either, although assembly is pretty straightforward. For those who know what they are doing, the BF-109 racer is an insane amount of fun for a sane amount of money!

Specs:
Wingspan: 1029mm
Length: 760mm
Flying Weight: 800g~1000g

Requires:
Your Own 4 Channel TX/RX
3 x 9g~12g servo, 1 x 25g Park servo

64mm Spinner
1200kv~1600kv 28mm In-runner Motor (8"~9" prop)
2200mAh 4s 25C~40C Lipoly Battery

great plane, difficult build. Be ready for goofy things like wrong sized bolts and missing parts. If you have most of the parts laying around from other planes then not to big of a deal. you will have to reinforce the front end with fiberglass or something or it will start to break away over time. Not a beginner plane or build.

not trying to scare you. for the price your getting alot of plane. check out the thread. http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1659480

Finally maidened mine on the weekend.

Turnigy 36-48, Turnigy 4S NanoTech. Turnigy Plush 60A. APC 8x6 prop.

Screams its lungs and really whistles through the air.

A bit of a handful on takeoff given the high wing loading - and a real brick to land. Difficult to flair, but something I can work on.

Made a short vid - you tube HK BF109 Pylon Racer to see the flight.

I received the plane Well packaged and without Any damage after 11 days I requested, I read some comments about the fuselage is fragile but I think is not, my opinion is that the fuselage is of high quality fiber , the wings are built perfectly, I think it's more than I expected to received, the plane is almost ready to fly, the parts are the BASIC ones and it is very easy to assemble. I ordered stickers to vive more realism to my BF-109. I give 5 stars to the plane and the price. Thanks again HOBBY KING

PS - the link to the online manual didn't work before, so try hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/573478465X7478X19.pdf with the usual bits at the front...

The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Part 2.

Opinion so far:

LOVE the fuse. It grows on you. No idea what motor to run yet, but this thing is worthy of

something that will give it killer speed. And something that could generate that supercharger

whine would be a bonus :)

For the dude asking about CG, the online manual at

http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/uploads/573478465X7478X19.pdf says "approx 45mm behind

the leading edge of the wing, measured at the centre of the fuselage".

Question:

I've read elsewhere that the rear stab has a positive angle of incidence. If this is so, do I

need to adjust this - and how do I do it. Before I commit to glueing the tailplane on...??

Ive got this nice bird, too!

Arrived very well packaged and without any damages.

Fuselage, wing and other parts are well manufactured.

However, the fuselage is a bit thin to my liking and during assembly one should be very carefully with the rudder section and not introduce any damage due to hard pressure.

Despite having the rudder functional I sanded it flat and glued it on.

The front of the fuselage was opened just as far as a motor can be dropped in from the front. The motor was attached to a gfk motorplate and secured to the fuselage with a couple screws.

First flight needed just a few trims on the ailerons and this bird goes like on rails! I used a 3s4400 with a NTM 3542-1250 and a 9,5x6 folding prop = more than 7:30 minutes on fullspeed!

Nice kit, but due the thin fuselage only 4 stars, but 5 stars for the value!

Bought and built. Wings are well covered, fuse is well finished, glass layup is average, but OK for the money. Flight surfaces are square and hinge up well. But my fuse is came slightly warped to left, setting the wings off the perpendicular. So builders, trial fit carefully and assemble with attention to your perpendiculars and wing and tail alignment. Plus wouldn't recommend the 480BL inrunner for this aircraft. The spinner prop combo is too large for a fast inrunner on a 4mm shaft. You'll have better luck with a slower, larger shaft (5mm) outrunner motor and a larger, slower prop setup.

Mine has just turned up today ,glass is thin but the layup is clean
packing was excellent and the only damage was a broken leading edge wing locator ,no big thing .No instructions or any information on setup which could make it hard for those not up on setting up or balancing .Mine will be converted for slope so will report how it performs soon
