I loved the Voltigeur but sadly I beat it to death, but I learned a few things I would recommend as I have now bought the MX2. First, on the MX2 I removed the motor and strengthened the firewall with a little CA and kicker. Then reinstalled the motor with Loctite (I found the Xbrace to motor screws were not loctited). Then I installed a GatorRC spinner GSP8657BLU with a Falcon elec. wood prop WPE1304. Lastly I had to use a 4cell for CG so I added a throttle limit of 90%. Now I can get full throttle for a long time and it's very smooth. Have fun!

Nice plane but partts expensive

At the $180 price point (sale price) I can recommend this plane in spite of a few minor quality control problems mentioned in some other reviews. Performs 3d quite nicely. However, $137 for a fuselage replacement makes this a no go. Didn't notice that when I purchased the plane.

A good 3s Plane

Very good overall plane. 4 Stars because of the 4s power system. Why make a relatively light airplane heavier with 4 cells? I put a similar sized 1400 kv motor in and fly it on 3s with a 12x4 prop. Flies beautifully on this set up. Most pilots have many 2200 3s batteries. Sales might be higher with this 3s set up. Just my thoughts. Thanks.

The plane flies very good. When going hi throttle you get a lot of vibration. Partly because of cheap spinner. I balanced prop and backplate, didn't help. Right out of the box the canopy had come off during shipping. It was dented and creased. Came un-glued from paint. Overall plane looks and flies good. Paint easily comes off and stickers bubble up. Still a good Beater plane!

Repurposed Voltigeur

Been in the hobby since 1974. Advertised wingspan is incorrect. I measured at the widest point and got 47.75 inches or 1212.85 mm. Advertised at 1270mm. I converted to same size 1400kv motor and it balances at 102mm as stated on box directions with a 2200 3 cell. This seems to be a repainted and repurposed Voltigeur. Honestly I believe the Voltigeur at $15 less is a better value and more people have 3s 2200 battery packs. Just my opinion. I am sure this plane will do well on my 3s set up.

Pretty Decent 3D plane

This is a really decent 3d plane , a friend who's a 3d monster did everything with it, ripping knife edge spins, rifle rolls, rolling 8s,circles,loops..
I hovered it ,flat spins easily, almost floaty...well worth it .
Make sure the cg is on the money for best 3d ability,and all control surfaces go lock to lock with the recommended expo, the ailerons are crazy powerful,as mentioned previously the aileron horns hit their fairings ,I'll carve slots in them so they clear ....I fixed the ESC to the floor with a 3/4 inch square of Velcro..the prop hole is centered amazingly well, but I went with a wood prop, I'm going to experiment with sfgs ....rudder is a little weak because of throw limitations but I'll drill a hole in the control horn to increase it..
I'm using an rt 2700 35c and getting 5:30 with constant 3d out of it, with pretty decent power , with a weight that rivals the recommended smaller 2200 batts .
