The Edge 540 V3 has to be one of the best looking race & performance planes ever built but make no mistake, the Hobbyking Edge has been designed with one thing in mind, extreme 3D aerobatics!

The quality of this Edge is simply as good as it gets, the airframe has been constructed to keep the flying weight minimal but strong enough to take the punishment of extreme aerobatics, the superb quality covering has been expertly applied and for the final touch, the cowl, canopy and wheel pants are finished in a deep gloss paint. The hardware is excellent & also chosen to keep flying weight to an absolute minimum and of course the model features plug in wing & CF wing tube as you would expect for easy transportation.

The H-King Edge 540 V3 performs every inch as good as it looks, naturaly it makes for a great sport plane but it would be fair to say that hardcore 3D is what the Edge has been designed for. Fatal Flaw....
This airplane flies really good BUT the horizontal stabilizer has lightening holes drilled in the center. It is also constructed with 2 halves (right and left) with a perpendicular glue joint right in the middle. It will break in the middle and cause a severe crash. It is just poorly designed and will fail. It just happened to me today. In order to eliminate this structural design flaw. throw away the stab that comes with it and make a new one from a single piece of 3/16' balsa. Cut slots of hinges and hinge the elevator. HobbyKing should make this modification immediately as it is one very good flying airplane if you can keep the stabilizer in one piece!

Not happy. Yes, the plane looks nice and everything, but after less than two minutes of flying, whilst still trimming out, the right hand rear horizontal stabiliser completely snapped off taking the RH elevator with it. Luckily, I was able to make an emergency landing with minimal damage to the undercarraige. However, this may not have been possible had I been performing a 3D manoeuvre such as the plane is advertised! On inspection, the rear stabiliser is constructed of lightweight balsa (as is the rest of the plane) with the woodgrain running in line with the fuselage. It was an accident waiting to happen. Other purchasers have had exactly the same experience and Hobbyking has failed to address the issue. Looks great. But as a "plane" it fails. As a 3D plane it has a serious design flaw and is not fit for purpose. "Quality as good as it gets" does not instill much confidence for further purchases.

top airplane & good value . Had 4 good fly's just the covering coming off in 1 spot my set up is e-flit 15 brushless outrunner Dualsky xc 60 amp emp , 11.7" emp prop & trningy 3s 2200 the setup is a little over kill but can be used in a bigger plan down the track . Flying around 1/2 throttle about 10 minute's no heat at all if you are mad you could go for a 12.7 " prop have fun

I bought this and collected it from the UK warehouse, to fit my GPS unit to. Didn't read other reviews, consequently on the first turn into wind on a windy day the RHS tail-plane c/w elevator fluttered to the ground ! I managed to land it with no other damage, don't know how! Fitted the complete tail-plane ass'y from my old Yak and braced it up with closed-loop wire. Never looked back, except for the papier-mache tail-plane this is a superb model. I did also put lots of epoxy round the undercarriage plate and firewall, it is an ARF after all!

A very good aircraft. Good lightweight and strong airframe. My Edge 540 take of weight is 1400g on the spot with 3542 size 1000 kv, 55A ESC and 3200mAh 3s lipo.
Reinforcement of the elevator recommended with 3mm carbon strip. Also Crimp tubes were missing in my edge, so get those just in case.
CG just 10mm behind carbon spar gives good 3D flying experience.

An beautiful plane. Superb quality finish. Well packed. Amazing value.

I have not yet flown it as am waiting for some minor parts but will need to handle the controls with extreme caution as this plane has huge control surfaces - scary.

It is absultely very easy to assemble. Can be flight ready in just 4-6 h. The control surfaces are big but the supplied cyano hinges are very small so I had to change them with bigger ones. The control horns according to me are not trusworthy so I changed the control horns as well. Servo spaces are not for mini servos but for micros only so if you want to use more powerful ones you will have some trouble to open more space for a mini servo.
The workmanship is of decent quality and the plane is very light weighted.
