Now in its third generation, HobbyKing™ brings you the Bix3, the ultimate training airplane and FPV platform. The Bix3 is the biggest, most versatile, and complete version of its family lineage. Coming with removable landing gear, plywood FPV tray, plastic belly skid, and optional flaps, you can customize your Bix3 exactly how you want it. Looking for the perfect trainer? Or an in-expensive FPV platform? The HobbyKing® Bix3 is it.

The Bix3 has all the right ingredients; made from super tough EPO foam, everything is pre-installed so minimal assembly time is required. In fact, by the time you have charged a battery, it should be ready to fly! The combination of size, low wing loading and a sleek fuselage make for an excellent model with capable, yet forgiving flight characteristics. The snap together two-piece wing makes the Bix3 a practical model that is easy to transport to your favorite flying field and can be ready to fly in just minutes.

Other practical features of the Bix3 include the large battery area that can accept a wide variety of battery sizes or house FPV equipment, plus the Bix3 also comes with optional flaps which can help cope with the extra weight. Simply install your own 9g flap servos, glue in the included hinges and you're ready. Even the control horns , pushrods, and Y-harness for the flaps are included in the box. We've upped the ante on the Bix3 by adding removable tail dragger landing gear including a steerable tail wheel. If you do not want to use the landing gear we have included a clear plastic belly skid to better protect the foam fuselage. Additionally, the belly of the Bix3 features two built in threaded inserts for optional accessories or anything you might dream up to mount to the bottom. Adding to the ruggedness of the Bix3 is a carbon tube that runs down the length of the aft fuselage, all the way to the tail wheel, so snapping a fuselage in half is a thing of the past.

For the FPV junkie, we have included a option plywood fpv mounting tray that replaces the stock sport canopy. This tray is perfect for setting up a camera with pan and tilt. For a fixed position camera, the nose is removable, able to accept small 1 inch square form factor cameras.

The larger wing, flaps & much larger canopy area mean that the Bix3 is a much more versatile airplane in terms of FPV use and for pilots who are simply flying for fun.  However you decide to fly the Bix3, you can be assured that it is just as fun and easy to fly as ever!

Features:
• Easy and fun to fly
• Plug and Fly - Just add your battery and radio equipment
• Larger canopy area to accomodate FPV equipment and/or larger flight battery
• Pre-installed servos & brushless motor
• Large wing for better slow flight and weight capacity
• Easy slip on landing gear with steerable tail wheel
• Includes removable plywood FPV canopy mount platform
• Pre-Installed optional flaps, just requires two servos
• 2-piece wings for easy transportation
• Carbon tube runs length of fuselage for superior strength
• Removable nose piece to accept FPV camera.

Great Airplane, Needs some tweaking..

Jan 08, 2017

The airplane over all is nice, it looks great and is a perfect FPV platform. there are a few issues, however. The propellor was so far out of balance it nearly shook it to pieces, and the spar did not fit into the carbon fiber tubes. It required some modifications of the spar and and re gluing of the spar tubes. (there was only a few drops of glue and the spar tubes nearly fell out. It is a great beginner airplane for flight, but if you are a beginner "builder" beware that the instructions are poor, and some of the parts do not fit properly. I am an experienced RC modeler and builder with over 17 years in the hobby. I wanted an easy to fly FPV platform, and this is a perfect airplane for that. Its a shame that the spar issue, poor instructions and prop balance detract from what could otherwise be a perfect trainer. In conclusion, Its a great airplane just be prepared for a frustrating assembly, and lack of clear instructions for a novice! Seek help from an experienced modeler before assembly!

Got the Bix 3 Yesterday Week and a half shipping from HK to UAE. Really quick. Thanks. Arrived well packed and it is really good quality. Very quick assembly with strong undercarriage. Had to glue in the main spar tube as it was a little loose when I put the wings together. Installed the flaps and I am very impressed with the way the control horn is designed. Good work by the designer. Flew her today and I am very impressed. Handled a 3s 4000 Mah battery and go pro with ease. Awesome plane unbelievable that it is only 89 bucks. Well worth the money.

An absolutely beautiful plane. Handles like a dream, easy hands off, just perfect as an fpv platform.

Certainly not underpowered, can almost do a vertical climb but not quite (with fpv gear and mobius on and carrying a 2200 3s1p)

Great for learning basic aerobatics, can easily do rolls, waterfalls, loops, etc. Inverted and knife-edge's are a little tricky (due to the self-levelling dihedral offers) but still possible.

A few flights in, I hit a streetlight on approach (FPV) and smashed into several pieces, but 2 sticks of hot glue and put it back together no worries, still flies like heaven.

Absolutely recommend for all flyers, beginners especially as the landing gear is very forgiving, and the pusher configuration means you won't be chewing through props.

I've been having a lot of fun with this model. I got the PNF version and it really only took some short easy gluing of the tail on to get flying.
I've been testing it with FPV - easy to fly and good for practising landing with wheels on FPV - I'd definitely recommend getting the additional servos for flaps.
The nose-cone can be cut off to allow a FPV camera to be placed in the nose
I'm also impressed at how variable the COG is: it does not require much elevator adjustment if I fly with/without an action-camera on the nose just glued to a 40x40mm piece of ply wood. I'd recommend some strengthening around the nose though to avoid the camera being crushed on a rough landing.
Two design flaws combining to a bother: the servos for elevator and rudder are recessed in the body such that it is very difficult to replace, and the servo for the rudder tail wheel is a cheap 9g plastic gear servo... it lasted about 15 (not expert) take-off and landing cycles before the gears were shredded and it needed replacement. It would be better to have these servos more accessible, and a metal-gear servo installed for the tail wheel.

I ordered mine expecting all servos to work.

Was disappointed as Rudder servo was DOA.

Does HK check anything or quality control before shipping to insure the item works as advertised ???

You already knew the answer I bet..

So far so good. I am setting it up for fpv and autopilot using ardupilot and minim osd. Space for equipment is good. I have made some minor changes to accommodate the GPS. Will post the completed project when done.

As a total newbie into the hobby, the Bix3 is my very first RC model. It turned out that it is extraordinarily easy to fly, even landing is manageable for beginners with zero flight experience. The plane is really durable and can sustain pretty hard landings. The only disadvantage I've found so far is a quality of its parts and their assembly. However, I honestly recommend this airplane, especially for beginners like myself.

Great plane. Have flown it 5 times now. Don't have any problems with it. The FPV base is a nice addition.
