This third version of the Durafly DH 100 Vampire follows on from its predecessors to deliver a fantastic even better version of this popular EDF jet. We have added many more improvements so that the best has got even better. These new improvements include, additional carbon-fiber reinforcement, simplified and lighter landing gear struts, improved ducting and thrust pipe for increased performance, plastic nose for added protection, and plastic retract mount fairings.

This version of the Vampire DH100 is finished in a Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) color scheme, this scheme was selected for its history and its orientation when flying. The RCAF obtained their Vampires in late 1948, and being their Air Force's first-ever jet fighter, they were an instant hit with the RCAF aircrew and pilots. The Vampire had an outstanding performance and graceful lines, this Durafly version captures these attributes beautifully.

Under the hatch, the Vampire V3 has an Aerostar 60A ESC, an impressive 2836 3300KV brushless motor, an efficient 70mm fan unit, and 4 high-quality 9g servos. The Vampire V3 is made from tough EPO foam which is superbly finished in the painted silver/red color scheme and also has factory-applied decals. As well as looking the part, it's easy to assemble, and the EDF unit, ESC, servos, retracts, and struts are all pre-installed at the factory.

Jets are about performance and the Durafly Vampire V3 will not disappoint. It has a fantastic climb rate due to being even lighter, and a great turn of speed. When you combine this performance with the uncanny scale-like sound, the result is one of the most realistic jets in its class. It has a wide, stable, flight envelope, fast passes are a dream, so are big loops and rolling maneuvers, and the slow speed handling combines to give you a very forgiving model. We recommend for best performance that you use a lightweight 2200mAh 4S LiPo battery, even with this battery you will achieve flight times of around 5 minutes with mixed-throttle use.

The Durafly D.H.100 Vampire V3 is the perfect choice for any budding jet jockey and experienced pilots alike. Its performance and handling make it one of the nicest EDF jets you are ever likely to fly, and is a must-have addition to everyone's jet hangar.

The model is well-designed and flies exceptionally well with some minor modifications.

I bought an earlier version of the Durafly Vampire years ago without a motor for slope soaring, and it flew beautifully as a lightweight glider. Now I wanted to try it with a fan, so I ordered the Vampire V3. It's a great overall package and flies wonderfully.
I first tested it with a 4S2200 battery, but found that a 3S2200 works just fine and keeps the aircraft lighter at 1035 g. The flight also looks more realistic when the speed isn't too high. I set the center of gravity just slightly forward of the recommended point. The elevator needs to be slightly trimmed down in flight.
The quality of the kit is good overall. There is a shape defect in the fuselage near the EDF — perhaps caused by how it was mounted? The elevator servo didn’t center properly, so low passes were a bit “bouncy.” I replaced the servo with a better one, and now the Vampire flies like it’s on rails. I reinforced the underside of the tail booms with carbon strips, following instructions I found online.

Vampire

Mar 25, 2025

Bought one vampire. It came little damaged probably because there was the batteries in the same box as the plane so during the delivery the batteries collided with the plane in the box. But the price for edf jet with retracts is good.

Very pleased

Overall very pleased with product. Relatively easy to assemble. Flight times of around 5mins with 4s 2.2 heavy duty lipo. Very enjoyable to fly. Made my own battery tray otherwise velcro does not sit in the middle of the battery to secure.

Impulse Buy

Feb 25, 2025

It was one of those purchases made when Hobbyking offered a huge discount. Well, I did not regret it. The Vampire went together easily and looked good when complete. It flies like its on rails and the retracts work perfectly. With a 2200mah 4s battery up front there's plenty of power and landing is achieved almost using throttle alone with a little aileron for stability. EDF, esc retracts, all for about £140. Not bad at all. The only improvement I made to the standard model was to beef up the canopy magnet which was a little weak. Otherwise rapidly becoming one of my favorites. Next I shall add Nav lights and probably flaps. Awesome.
