The Hobbyking 70mm EDF fighter jet certainly looks the part and as a result of the quality construction, is a very capable high speed model jet. This jet was designed to be a dogfighter and this model sports an all moving tailplane and good size aileron's to give the RC pilot the kind of maneoverability that this fighter  is famous for. Wing/elevator construction is Foam core/sheet balsa, the fuselage, intake, canopy and vertical stab are composite, the fan cover is removable and an eflux tube sheet is included.

This is an affordable and practical high performance scale jet that will give you many hours of fun, a 70mm fan unit is included and the total build cost should be low for such a nice quality model. Great looks, low build cost, quality construction, great flyer and of course ballistic performance, what more could you ask for!

This airplane is under-powered with a 4s set up. I installed an E-Flite 15 brushless motor with a Turnigy 4s 2650 mah, 14-blade EDF unit. Thrust output was well below anticipated thrust. I suspect the duct opening is too small and not enough air is getting to the motor. Bench check the motor set up and the thrust was incredible. Again, I suspect the duct inlet is too small. Anyone come up with a solution for more thrust?

Well I got mine and the packaging was great. I too dint have instructions however did download the slides from the international file of this same plane. I have had it for a month and have it built. Do want to do retracts but the F-16 ones I have found put the retracts in the intake. It's to thin to do that. I'll figure something out. I. Like the plane and would recommend to someone with time and the skills to adapt the balsa for your needs.

It finally took the air after an unlucky first attempt during which I broke a wing. It has to be bungee launched with my setup to get a good elevator response on start.
Setup:
- EDF FAN 6904
- Motor: HET 2W20
- LiPo 3300mAh turnigy 30-40c
- 100Amps ESC
- CG 70mm at wing root
- Elevator 18mm travel
- Airleron 7mm travel

Behavior in flight is pretty good but need to be trimmed pitch up. Plane is fast and you easily lost him if you go too far away due to its small size....
First landings are a bit hard as the plane is coming fast but after few runs you are able to master beast ! :)
Nice little jet with good flying characteristics for the price, I will recommend !

To make a long story short: I do not recommend Hobby King.
You will be better off supporting your local hobby shop where your SERVICE will be better and they will take care of you-unlike HK.
This purchase shall be the last -so savor the flavor HK -I am done.

My order just arrived and the directions did not come with it. I specifically ordered it because the product description said it came with building directions...unlike some kits that do not.

Also, to add to my nice day (sarcasm) the plane came with a not-so-good packed airplane and one crushed right wing tip.

What a bummer...I will keep you all posted here on how HK handles this matter. I will not hesitate to tube this if i get burned.

Ok first off there are no directions. Alot of the assembly is up to you for example its not clear where the edf unit goes or how it mounts. Same with the servos, there doesnt seem to be spot for them. The canopy doesnt have any way to mount it that I can see. It comes with magnets but where do they go? No landing gear, you get what in the images and nothing more. It will be a fun project for some and something that never gets in the air for some others.
