Do you feel the need for speed? The HobbyKing™ Electrolyte mini jet will fill that need quite well. Originally developed by US designer Dr. Bret Becker and sold as a limited production kit, it is now available as an almost ready to fly version, saving you time and effort. Working closely with the designer on both the airframe and power system, the Electrolyte you see here is one of the fastest micro jet's around. The original prototype was the first micro EDF to exceed 100mph and is currently on display at the AMA Museum in Muncie Indiana.

The Electrolyte features a beautiful pre-painted fiberglass fuselage, with balsa wings and tail. Included in the box are two different vertical fin options. As this is a high performance jet, it needs to get into the air quickly, so we have even included a mini bungee launch kit in the box. The heart of the Electrolyte is the included aluminum shroud, 8 blade impeller, Dr. MadThrust 40mm EDF unit with 8000kv inrunner motor. This is the power system developed by Dr. Becker specifically for this model to give the best performance without excess current draw.

Building the Electrolyte will take a few evenings of work. Though it is an Almost Ready to Fly model, we do suggest some previous model building. You will need a few tools such as a rotary tool with assorted bits, various drill bits, epoxy, clear tape, CA glue, sand paper, hobby knife, scissors, and some patience.

Flying the Electrolyte is the real treat. We recommend using the included bungee kit for best launches. From there, its full throttle the whole way! High speed passes, point rolls on the deck, either way, its an adrenaline ride the whole time. Check out the HobbyKing™ Electrolyte 40mm EDF, a small model that is big fun!

I can't say enough good things about this jet. NOTE::NOT FOR THE BEGINNER OR INTERMEDIATE. If you want to go fast, this'll do it. But you better have some go fast time under your belt! For the money, quality is good. May have to do some adjusting to canopy. EDF is well balanced and good running. I bought 2, should have bought 6 at the sale price of $47!! What a deal.

nice quality composate and balsa kit ezy to put together however i dident like that you have to glue or hot glue elevator servo on the inside of the fuse and the the eleron servos where set up on the bottom of the plane so i modifyed the fuse to use the eleron servo arms on the top as to not damage the horns and push rods on landing.other than that is a small plain and fast with supplied DR Mad 40mm Edf setup,,Not recommended for beginners and also comes with bungee launcher.

HobbyKing Electrolyte 40mm EDF Micro Jet Composite 508mm (ARF).

Bungee take off is rather fun, not really a 100mph plane to me but for the size of the edf it's rather fast for what it is. Will experiment a little more with the tubing and shrink it to sub 30mm diameter to hopefully make it a little more fun/faster.

Overall weight was 430g and motor stated at 400g of thrust so a little off 1:1.

I'm relatively happy with the kit - especially the edf unit. however a little disappointed with overall performance of the plane

Magnets in hatch need to be aligned a little better as there is a few mm gap as stated in a previous review.

purchased the ducted fan kit and all looks very nice. only gripe is magnets on fuselage and canopy not installed properly. when installing canopy it slides backwards and leaves a 3mm gap. really annoying. don't really want to hack them about.

Top quality for sure, also a fun and challenging build. Realestate inside the fuse is sparse, especially with the full ducting system taking most of the space.Just taking the time and also using the recommended d47 servos is a must. I'm using a YEP 30,it fits nice and works well,

This baby is amazing, Bret and HK did a fantastic job with this kit and the only thing l regret is the fact I ordered only one. ....the quality is perfect, the included fan unit has tremendous power and is well balanced and very smooth. If like me youre a huge bandit or electra fan youll fall in love with this bird. You wont regret your choice! Even the packaging is Excellent! and the manual reflects the top level of this kit , great!!!

Not very impressed with build quality of the fiberglass. Some holes don't line up and others are missing plywood backings. That made it a tricky build, definitely not for an inexperienced modeler. However, it flys nice with easy bungee launcher and landings are a bit trickier. Be careful when flying this fast plane, it disappears pretty fast.

Just received the box. This thing looks nice! Quality of the fibreglass looks good, the covering om the wings and tail is very nicely applied. The included fan looks nice too. This is promising to be a very nice model.

Initial impressions: Composite fuselage is very nicely finished and not too heavy. The eight blade fan is pretty stiff (probably reinforced) plastic inside an alloy shroud. Very nice - definitely NOT one of the cheapo plastic units often sold with small jets. The 8000KV motor sounds amazing when run on the bench, especially for one so small... The parts seem to fit well together, although ply elevator horn was in two parts - not sure if that is intentional or one off fault with the kit. Easy enough to glue together or fabricate. Conclusion pre-build: Very impressive and great value for money. Other guys in the club similarly impressed and threatened to buy, so may have to add some distinguishing markings..... Not a jet for the faint hearted or novice, but otherwise BUY IT. The UK weather is likely to remain cold and windy for some time, but will write up a short review after getting to fly it.
