HobbyKing 3D Printer Filament 1.75mm PLA 1KG Spool (Metallic Silver)
HobbyKing have come out with a huge new range of 3D Printer Filaments at prices that will have you printing all day and all night.
The range covers PLA, ABS, Flexible, Color Changing, Luminous, Nylon, Polycarbonate, Acetal (POM), Metal Composite and even a water soluble filament for printing molds. So there is a filament for every project you have in mind. HobbyKing filaments have a stable melting point, good round shape and most importantly a 0.05mm uniform diameter tolerance for a consistent flow rate.
PLA has a lower melting point and prints easier than other materials. One of the most important features is that PLA is non-toxic, and even has a sweet smell when printing. PLA has a low shrinkage rate and it is very rigid with minimal flex. This material can print extremely high resolution models and is perfect for a wide range of uses. PLA is considered stronger than ABS but is more susceptible to cracking when subjected to flexing, impact or torsional loads so the mechanical needs of the print project need to be evaluated.
PLA has a huge range of vibrant colors and opacity for that perfect look whether it is artistic or utilitarian, in short a great material for 3D printing. PLA can be printed without the use of a heat bead, and can stick to glass or a PCB plate with a binder such as hairspray or white glue for a curl free print.
3D printing is a fun and exciting hobby with a wide range of uses from prototyping parts to making toys for the kids. Picking the right filament for your application is very important.

Been using with standard settings 200/50 gives a nice metallic finish.I've been really impressed with this stuff, especially for the price. It prints consistently, at a variety of temperatures. I've had very nice prints at 200 degrees when bridging was a concern, and this filament did great. I've also printed several RC airplane parts at 230 degrees where layer adhesion was a concern, and this filament did great there as well. My only complaint, and it's a small one, is this filament seems a little "sticky". Retraction settings have been a little difficult, as it likes to ooze out and string more than some other filaments. It also appears more "grey" than "silver". There are tiny metallic flakes, but on the whole it's mostly just grey plastic. Still, it looks very nice, it prints very nice, and it's very cheap. I'll definitely buy more.Prints really well and looks better than the eSun version. This is my favorite PLA at the moment. I'm so glad I bought several kilograms last summer, seeing that it is now back-ordered in EU. Amazing price/performance on a Wanhao i3 with a Flexion HT extruder. For this price you can't get a better printing, better looking silver PLA filament. I really love it. As soon as I received the package I loaded it and started printing (my PLA temperature settings are 210C nozzle and 50C bed). I'm very happy with this one! It's not wound super perfect, but I can't see the wind giving me issues... Because PLA filaments aren't very flexible you need to make sure there's a light tension so it doesn't come off from the spool by itself... Will order again! My experience with this filament is really good, perfect layer adhesion, beautiful finish on the print itself and the price of course.
While i am half way my spool already there hasn't been 1 single moment my spool is badly wind.
My settings for this filament: Nozzle 215, bed 30 (also works with bed turned off).
Overall this filament is one of the better types i used so far, would definitely buy it again. This filament prints very nicely and has a nice shiny finish.
My only gripe with it is that the wind on the reel is really bad. I have had same issue with another 1kg roll of red from Hobbyking. I have lost 3 prints (all over 9 hour prints) because of jamming on the roll where the filament is crossed over itself. I do not print any job with this now that has to be left unattended.
Would i buy it again? the answer is yes i would but only to use on small prints that can be watched all the way.
Shame its on backorder.
