The RADIOMASTER TX16S is a high-end, low-cost, premium multi-protocol radio that has great features and will allow you to fly a countless number of RC products. Being multi-protocol means you are not locked into one system such as FrSky, Spektrum, or FLYSKY, etc. You can link the TX16S to these popular protocols plus the not-so-popular ones that operate on 2.4GHz. A full list of agreed protocols is available from the link shown in the attached User Manual under the "Files" tab.

The TX16S transmitter runs OpenTX open source firmware which is fully supported by the OpenTX development team. It is a fully functioning 16 channel radio with a 4.3" color display screen, built-in USB-C charging, has voice functions, telemetry (protocol and receiver dependent), is crossfire compatible, has an external SD card slot, and much much more.

This version of the TX16S has high-quality Non-Contact 3D vector Hall effect sensor gimbals fitted with CNC aluminum facias, these gimbals provide the ultimate feel and precise control demanded by experts and beginners alike. The easy-to-use and intuitive menus are accessed via a strong metal roller wheel (no plastic here!) and 6 push buttons on the front, all very simple to use.

There is a module slot in the back of the transmitter which will accept the popular JR/FrSky type of module which means you can be up and running almost instantly with your favorite protocol. The transmitter is also Mode selectable so can be either Mode 1 or Mode 2, this does, however, require the back being removed to move some mechanical components from one stick unit to the other. A battery tray is supplied which will accept either 2 x 3.7V 18650 Lithium-Ion batteries or 2 x 3.7V LiPo batteries. The large battery compartment (97x52x25mm) also has room for a 2S LiPo pack of your choice. A nice feature of this radio is that the batteries can stay in the compartment and be charged via the USB-C charging port. As an optional extra RADIOMASTER have a 7.4V 5000mah Li-Ion battery which is a direct fit into the radio compartment without the need to use the battery box (see related items). Other ports include a DSC for buddy box system, a USB for hooking up to a simulator, and 2 UART ports to expand the capabilities of the radio.

Overall this is an easy-to-use, multi-protocol transmitter that removes the need for you to have lots of different types of transmitters at your disposal. This one unit will operate just about all the different protocols on the market today.

A very good and practical transmitter for a very reasonable price.

Sep 28, 2021

I'm testing it with all my receivers, and thanks to its multiprotocol system it works with practically all of them. You also have total freedom for configuration using the opentx software and being able to customize.

Best Bang for you Buck

Jul 03, 2021

I was in the market for a transmitter that I can grow into. I didnt want to deal with being limited to 6 or even 8 channels. I determined the TX16s was the way to go. I'm so glad I did!
Yes theres a bit of a learning curve required but dont let that discourage you. Once you understand how the transmitter works you wont need to purchase another one, ever.
There are many fantastic people on YouTube that give very in depth tutorials on OpenTX. This will be key to your success with this TX.

Amazing value radio for this price!

Mar 06, 2021

HK truly rocks! I accidentally purchased the version without Hall Sensor gimbals and HK helped fix my mistake before it shipped!
With regards to the radio I couldn’t believe I was getting a radio with so much functionality for so little money. The only things I’ve found is that the sticks have no length adjustment and are a little sharp on the ends. Also, the plastic screwed onto the handle is a little flimsy.
The OpenTX programming is well supported by the community via the internet and on “Y-tube”. Recommend that you be comfortable using a computer to get the most out of this radio but programming can be done without one.

Incredible value for the money

Used it on four different receivers, using Glaupner HOTT and Frsky D16 protocols so far and it worked like a charm. I love the versatility of OpenTX

Still doesn't control anything

Feb 20, 2021

Won't control my boat, car, truck, drifter, or hexacopter. I bought it for the hex but it never worked. I tried to reach out to them for tech support and they said sorry we can't help you.... have tried 7 different receivers, and a flight controller. Nothing connects the same twice.. might work one time but then power cycle and throttle is now on the wrong side, nothing controls left and right
.... ita a mess

Excellent transmitter

Feb 18, 2021

If you like the versatility of OpenTX, this is the radio to buy.
More than enough channels for any RC enthusiast.
Feels good in the hands w/ excellent balance on a strap (using the RM 5000mAh Li-Ion battery).
Solid build inside and out . Would have given five stars on quality except for the two side sliders barely have center detents. I don't use them, so it isn't a big issue for me.
Gimbals are smooth and adjustable and it is easy to change the stick mode if you wish.
The internal multi-protocol covers all of the popular protocols including DSM. I don't have to be concerned with which receiver I use.
Works great and I highly recommend getting one.
If you don't like the "plain Jane" look it is easy to
