The Volantex 4 channel Trainstar Ascent with a 1400mm wingspan is the ideal size for an electric RC trainer. It has all the attributes of a good trainer airplane, first off, it is strong, the high wing gives it stability, and the wide, large-wheeled landing gear with a steerable tailwheel gives it excellent ground handling. The fuselage is blow-molded from a tough, rugged, and flexible plastic with plywood formers that will take a lot of punishment, it will bend and flex before breaking. The wings and tail components are equally as strong, these are manufactured from tough EPO foam, the foam hinges are also reinforced with plastic hinges for strength. Assembly is very straightforward, no gluing is required, the tail parts are screwed on and the wings attach via a metal spar. The wings are kept safely in place using the popular Volantex fast connect clips, after flying, simply squeeze the clips to release the wings.

Being "Plug N Fly", the Trainstar Ascent has the following pre-installed, a powerful 4023-1050KV brushless motor, a 40A electronic speed controller with BEC, and the 4 x 9g servos. All you have to do is attach the supplied control horns to the ailerons, elevator, and rudder, then fit the control push-rods. The supplied hardware pack also includes a 12x6 propeller, spinner, and propeller to motor adapter.

The Trainstar Ascent is the ideal airplane for anyone entering the hobby and wishing to learn to fly due to its large wing area, high wing configuration, and rugged design. Once you have gained experience its large powerful control surfaces and abundance of power make it also ideal as an aerobatic trainer, this makes the Ascent the perfect all-rounder airplane.

One of my best

Dec 14, 2021

Flies out of the box. Makes a lot of fun. Only the screws of the landing gear did not fit. The landing gear is a little too soft. Power is enough.
I don't see the battery compartment at the bottom as an advantage.

missing screws

Nov 24, 2021

well, packaging could be improved.
half of the stickers roll was entangled with the packing tape itself, making its almost impossible to use.
to my major disappointment, required screws (2.6*8) were missing, and I am still trying to find these screws in local stores
Since, I have not installed the plane yet cannot comment on flight experience yet.

I love this plane it has a very stable flight the engine is very powerful it is acrobatic 100% recommended a negative point is that the aluminum landing gear bends easily

Decals damaged in box

Oct 13, 2021

Unfortunately the decal sheet had stuck to itself in the box, which means the decals are stripped with a section where the ink has been removed by unsticking the stuck together layers.

Very good trainer

Oct 13, 2021

Robust trainer which flys well.
Wing clips are a bit fragile, undercarriage is quite flexible and well fixed so absorbs stress of heavy landings, prop is 12x6.
Fuz and nose are plastic not foam so strong.
I like this plane.

747-8 trainstar ascent

Oct 13, 2021

This is a good value model and flys well once its set up..a few niggles that has effected its quality score first the bolts for the wheel axles to short so had to fit my own second the decals were not brilliant quality and they were rolled up to put in the box some had stuck to the others making them unusable thirdly the y lead supplied to connect receiver to ailerons was defective on one side so again had to use a spare one I had and finally the undercarriage is a bit flimsy bends really easily on the heavier landings think that it needs a bit off modification to stiffen up... for a artf kit it was a bit of a faff to get c of g right adding weight think this could be done by manufacturer otherwise I'm fairly happy with this model.

Could be better

Oct 13, 2021

First impressions were really good. Dense foam, nice fuselage, good hinges and wing locking. On assembly, though, I noticed there were some screws for the tail missing. And the prop adapter is really hard to get attached so that it doesn't rub on the motor plate keeping the motor from spinning! Hope it flies Ok.
