The Durafly Me-163B has been designed for pilots with some experience, it benefits from an incredible flight performance, great stability throughout its speed range, and like the real thing, it is incredibly fast. Aerobatics including huge loops, vertical rolls out of sight, and very fast low passes are easily achievable, yet slow it down and it's very stable, with no hint of a stall. Using the recommended 2200mah 30-65C 4S LiPo battery and the supplied 6x4 prop, you can expect flight times well beyond 5 minutes and an abundance of power. If you love speed and very fast models, then this one is for you, the Komet Me-163 is ballistic, with speeds approaching 100mph.


This latest V2 version of the Durafly Me-163 retains some of the unique features of the original version, with the addition of some new ones. The V2 features a gravity release scale 'dolly' style undercarriage making the take-off procedure less complicated whilst reducing weight. It simply falls away once you pull up into the climb and the weight comes off the model. The take-off dolly has also had its wheelbase widened to improve ground handling. A magnetic gear release system is available as an optional extra if you require, this is really only necessary if you fly from a bumpy strip. The V2 Me-163 is a 4S set-up as standard, this has been achieved by a redesign of the center internal fuselage and wing spar system, it has increased the internal capacity and has also further reduced the AUW of the model. However, the versatility of the power system remains, you can still fly the Komet on a 3S battery if you wish with no change needed. Even on a 3S set-up, the Komet is no slouch, it is still very fast and a lot of fun. The V2 color scheme is based on the Me-163B "White 10" as flown by Lt. Hans-Ludwig Löscher of 1./JG 400, Brandis, in Germany.


Being "Plug N Fly", the motor, ESC, and servos are pre-installed and ready to hook up to your choice of receiver. The molded EPO construction has a highly detailed finish on the outside, and extensive carbon reinforcement internally. Other features are a color-matched hard plastic belly skid, good access to all electronics via the battery/canopy hatch, and excellent cooling throughout.


For those of you looking for the ultimate scale experience, the optional rocket system adds a really cool element, and it is a simple drop-in affair, see the manual for details. At the flick of a switch, this will give the Komet a thrilling boost, realistic white smoke pouring out of the back, and an exhilarating vertical climb-out.

Als schon immer Liebhaber der ME163 konnte ich mir dieses Modell nicht entgehen lassen - und ich muss sagen, ich bin begeistert.
Ich habe schon viele Modelle geflogen, dieses gehört zu den mit präzisesten Flugzeugen was ich in der Schaumkategorie geflogen bin.
Im Gegensatz zu den oft gezeigten Videos fliege ich sie mit 3S 1800 Lipo. Das Handling in der Luft und das Verhalten bei den Landungen ist im Bezug auf das Gewicht zum 4S 2200 enorm.
Die 163 ist mit 3S schon sehr flott unterwegs (Propeller gegen einen APC getauscht, welcher genauso unter den Spinner passt).
Die Flugzeit mit 3S 1800 liegt bei ca. 5 Minuten gemischtes fliegen mit Restkapazität.
Das Modell lässt sich schwer von Teerbahnen starten, da es schnell dazu neigt am Boden aufzubrechen.
Der Start auf kurzem, einigermaßen gepflegtem Rasen stellt kein Problem dar.
Beim anrollen Hohenruder voll ziehen, beim beschleunigen gebe ich immer wieder starke Impulse auf das Hohenruder bis sie abhebt, dann Hohenruder sofort nachlassen, klappt super.
Die Luftschraube genauestens wuchten, dann auf den Mitnehmer montieren und am Boden testen. Vibration wurde man sofort wahrnehmen. Bei Vibrationen die Luftschraube "Stundenweise" oder Stück für Stück am Mitnehmer drehen, bis beide miteinander harmonieren und der Klang angenehm ist.
Zum Schluss auch den Spinner so und so rum mal montieren, auch dieser kann anders rum montiert schon wieder Unwucht erzeugen.
Gut ausgewuchtet hält sich die Lautstärke der Me in Grenzen.
Das magnetische Abwurffahrwerk ist das Mehrgewicht wert, da gerade auf Rasenpisten mal schnell Unebenheiten sein können und das Fahrwerk dann schon ausklinkt.
Das Modell neigt dazu trotz der gut haltenden magnetischen Kabinenhauben diese zu verlieren. Ich habe diese mit einen dünnen CFK Stab, der quer durch das Modell und Haube geht zusätzlich gesichert.
Die 163 ist kein Anfänger Modell, stellt jedoch für den geübten Piloten (bei zumindest am Anfang leichten Abfluggewicht) kein Problem dar, fliegt toll und ist stabil.
Das Finish ist scale und schön gemacht, der Aufbau problemlos, gute Passgenauigkeit.
Die Lieferung von Hobbyking aus dem EU Lager verlief schnell und problemlos.

Flies well and is easy to assemble. ESC has no way to hold it in position. Had to change the ESC battery connector as the pins in the original are slightly too large and jammed in the battery connector. Take off is a bit difficult but can be done. Lack of tailwheel steering doesn't help. FUN to fly and fast enough for a few thrills.

Fun FPV platform

I've had success adding a Walksnail system and GM3 to this one. Speaking from a FPV standpoint, takeoff is a bit bouncy on grass but goes fine otherwise, it flies very well with plenty of power for loops and rolls, and landings are easier than expected, although I came in very hot my on my FPV maiden landing. I'm pretty sure it will do FPV no gear touch and goes, if you glue the wings on well enough. I too would love to see the Japanese color scheme return.

When this went on sale, I decided I needed another Me-163! Very enjoyable aircraft regardless of how you fly her...I just wish HK would release a Mitsubishi J8M Shusui rendition as the did with version 1 of the Me-163.

Me 163, ein wahrhaftiger Komet

Dieser "Giftzwerg" hat es in sich.Wenn die Ruder gut mit minimalen Ausschlägen bei 35-40% Expo abgestimmt sind, ist das Hochgeschwindigkeitsmodell sehr gut zu händeln. Mein 2400er LIPO sitzt weiter vorne als laut Herstellerangaben. Vorderkante LIPO deckt noch den Abwurfschacht ab, welches das Servo den Magnet dreht.Schwerpunkt also etwas weiter nach vorne setzen. Wann kommen endlich die angebotenen Ersatzteile an?
Sowas kann im Geschwindigkeitsrausch auch schnell in Anspruch genommen werden.

Arrived with no damage and nicely packed. Usual Durafly quality with easy assembly. Updated ESC to a 65A Dualsky and 7x3 MA prop as per Aussie RC Playground flight review. Interesting that my dolly wasn't completely painted so no sanding. I think the end of the dolly that sits inside the fuselage could be extended as it does pop out very easy on a slightly bumpy grass runway which makes it a very challenging lift off and tends to reduce the dia of your prop. Once up in the air though the Komet is an absolute blast. I found I preferred high rates on the elevator with low rates on the ailerons. Landing is an absolute breeze with a very stable glide slope with slight throttle only required if needed. Using a cnhl 4S 40c. Would definitely recommend

I love this plane!!!!

I have had the red one for years but recently I picked up this one on sale. I am a sucker for the green Camo! This thing is a screaming machine and everybody at the field makes a little poo - poo on low fast flyovers. Definitely a crowd pleaser and really fun to fly. I have a few complaints. The 4S battery needs to be very slim to fit under the carbon rod that goes between the wings and I really don't like that it didn't come with the undercarriage drop option. When this thing comes off the trolley it is hard to predict which way it will go. How about re-stocking the optional servo release? Better to flyover and drop it like the old red one. Way to cheap out on the pilot also. Otherwise terrific!

Be aware this model comes without the pilot, despite all the photos showing one. Also, HK are unable to supply one. Just worth knowing.

HK: It is clearly mentioned in the web copy that the pilot is no longer supplied.
