The Dancing Wings Hobby Aion laser cut balsa kit is an easy-build electric sports glider that includes ailerons and flaps. The Aion is aimed at the modeler who wants to experience real model-making but wants something that is reasonably straightforward to build. This is achieved with the use of accurate laser-cut parts and the simple box-type fuselage which produce a strong, accurate, lightweight structure. The Aion is relatively easy to build, however, we do recommend that some experience in building a wood model airplane has been gained previously. Most of the components are constructed over the detailed, high-quality printed 1:1 building plan.
The Aion is a large wingspan (2.5M) electric sport glider that is quite happy to fly around under power doing gentle aerobatics, and it is equally at home with the power off soaring away in thermals on a nice sunny day. It has ailerons, elevator, and rudder control, plus it has flaps, these are great for soaring, or used as crow-braking to reduce the float for nice short spot landings.
This outstanding kit is supplied with a powerful 2216-920KV brushless motor, a 30A brushless ESC, an 11" folding prop with a metal spinner, 6 x 9g servos, and an iron-on covering film pack. Once the airframe is built, we recommend that you cover the model in the lightweight, iron-on covering supplied as shown in the pictures. The solid white on the fuselage, and the transparent colors on the open structures. This shows off the beautiful structure of the wings and tail components and looks great when flying with the sun shining through.
So either take a trip down memory lane and get away from all the foamies or ARTFs, or experience building your first model from a kit. The kit itself includes laser-cut parts, ample strip wood, carbon dihedral braces, a decal sheet, and a complete hardware pack.
