The Phoenix 2400 is the largest glider in the Phoenix range. It comes with an almost indestructible ABS plastic hull and strong EPO foam wings and tail section. With its smooth, stiff hull, the Phoenix is durable for a lifetime and yet light enough for the glider to work without any problems. An additional canopy with camera mount is included. Once you have your camera installed, you can either enjoy FPV flying or just take pictures of your flights.

Assembling the glider is quite easy with no glue required. To make travel easier, the wing halves simply snap into place along with a rigid wing spar for added strength. The main wing is 2,400 millimeters long and contains ailerons and flaps for better aircraft control. The fuselage has a built-in single wheel for easier landing on rougher runways.

The speed controller, brushless outrunner motor and 9g servos are all pre-installed. It should only take about 20 minutes for the rest of the build to complete, including adding your own receiver and battery.

• ABS plastic hull
• EPO foam wings with flaps

Very good value for the money

Improved quality, esp. with respect to the hinges holding the control surfaces and the fixation of the horizontal and vertical stabilisers. However, shipping from GB to Europe is not advisable because of tax regulations.

Good Value , Good Quality , Would Recommend

May 27, 2021

This is my first Hobby King plane, and first large glider. Coming from Motion RC and Horizon Hobby (Freewing, FMS, E-Flite), I wasn't expecting much. I fly EDF jets, war birds, anything that I can make fast. I was pleasantly surprised at the build quality of this glider. Fast it is not. But it is tolerable on 4s. I land it fine without flaps in a relatively short distance. Therefore I'll be using all four wing control surfaces as ailerons. this should speed up the roll rate. On the AR636 receiver it's set up as DUAL AILERONS with a flaperon mix in the DX6. Lots of "rea estate" for the money.

Excellent model

May 14, 2021

The model assembled quickly and easily and has ample power and duration on a 3s 2200 battery but I felt it needed a bit more weight in the nose so now I'm using a 3s 3300 and I think a 3700 wouldn't be too heavy. It gains height rapidly under power and is surprisingly aerobatic! Power off it is a remarkably efficient glider and thermals well though you do have to fly it the whole time....... It is not a floater and you can't look away and leave it to look after itself and expect it to still be there when you look back! All in all though, an exellent model and very good value. I'm very pleased with it.

Junk

Apr 10, 2021

The plane flies great! i have purchased 2 in the last year. The second one is just a back up. I will tell you that the motors in these sailplanes are JUNK!!!! They last maybe 4 to 5 hours at most.one burned out in 3 hours of flight time so i ordered another from HK. This motor burned it self out yesterday after 4 to 5 hours max. So today i pulled out the motor from my spare 2400 sailplane. I will never buy another volanttex product!!! not worth the agrivation. Pass on this pos.

Great value, but ...

Apr 04, 2021

Very nice plane, plenty of space inside and very easy to build. Unfortunately some parts were missing/wrong in my order, but HK supplied me these parts in short time. I've had to make the linkage for the elevator servo myself, because the supplied part and the replacement part did not fit (too short). Do not use the markings for the CG on the wings, the CG is at about 85 mm from the leading edge at root of the wing and could go even further back. The plane itself flies very gentle and slow. It is not a fast glider. I fly it with a 2200 mAh 3S, which gives you slow climbs (which is ok for a glider). A 4S would probably do better. Using crow it is very easy to land. For the throws look at the instruction for the Heron and go from there, I'd say. That's what I did. Overall good value for money.

Excellent

Feb 07, 2021

Wasn’t expecting much but was I wrong. This has been a great plane. Members in the club are all impressed with the ease of setup and fly. Those that have gotten it from hands love it even the “old timers” have flown it. For my first glider it has made me look like a pro.

great, but...

Feb 05, 2021

I love my Phoenix 2400 but be sure to buy a spare prop and wing clip, they break easily in a hard landing or light crash. Also know that the linkage to the elevator is too short and will have to be modified. I lucked out and had a spare rod at home.

Wonderful powered glider

Jan 28, 2021

This is a great glider at a superior price. Be prepared to modify the linkage between the servo and the elevator. The rod is 1.5" too short. I also used a lemon receiver with altitude telemetry and a ZOHD GPS return to home module. It pays to order extra propellers and the clips that hold the wings on. They're hard to find locally. It works fine with 3S batteries but 4S is amazing.
